According to a recent report by El Desmarque, Barcelona are eager to seal a move for Tottenham Hotspur centre-forward Harry Kane. It is understood that Barca boss Ernesto Valverde has identified the England international as an ideal replacement for the ageing Luis Suarez who is expected to leave the Catalan giants soon (via El Desmarque).
Kane’s Return To Form At North London
Kane made a slow start to this campaign which saw Spurs struggle to find consistency in terms of their results in the Premier League. The North London outfit decided to sack Mauricio Pochettino and appoint Jose Mourinho as their new manager last month. The move has paid dividends as Kane has managed to reignite his old form in front of the opposition goal.
The English forward has already managed to score five goals under Mourinho which includes a brace against Olympiakos and Burnley. He has featured in 20 matches for Spurs this term, netting 15 goals while creating two assists on all fronts. Kane’s form in the UEFA Champions League has been exceptional as he is averaging 4.6 shots, 0.8 key passes and 1.6 dribbles per game in Europe (stats via whoscored).
The 26-year-old also has a wealth of experience at the international level, having represented England in 45 matches while scoring 32 goals in the process.
What Makes The England Captain Such An Exceptional Striker?
Kane is an unforgiving finisher in the final third and has proven his worth as a consistent goal-scorer over the past few campaigns. He can also hold the ball up well and can interchange quick passes with his teammates in and around the opposition penalty area. The Spurs goal-machine has the eye to pick out a killer pass in the attacking third of the pitch.
He is a complete centre-forward who will be a massive signing for Barca if they can find a way to lure the English marksman to the Nou Camp. Kane has the potential to ease Lionel Messi’s goal-scoring workload, a task that Suarez struggled to perform last season. Antoine Griezmann has also made an underwhelming start to his Barcelona career so the jury is still out on whether the Frenchman can contribute by scoring or creating goals consistently at the highest level.
Thus, the Catalans should try everything they can to land Kane as he is a ‘one in a generation’ type of player who could end up winning a lot of trophies if given a chance to play for the La Liga champions.
