According to the latest reports from Leicestershire Live, Alfredo Morelos is being linked with a move to Leicester City. The Colombian striker has been in terrific form so far this season as he has already bagged 22 goals in all competitions. It is believed that the Foxes could send Kelechi Iheanacho on loan in the new year and they can bring in another striker to replace him.
Morelos has also been on Aston Villa’s radar as well for quite some time, and he hasn’t done his reputation any harm after his performances this season. Gerrard recently went on to indicate that he isn’t going to sell Morelos, but the decision is unlikely to be entirely his. Therefore a big offer could do the trick for the prospective suitors. The Colombian has often maintained that he would love to play in the Premier League one day.
Sutton’s advice for Morelos
However, Celtic legend and former striker Chris Sutton urged Morelos to stay at Rangers for now and show his impressive form for a sustained period of time. Sutton said (Ladbrokes Social Club Youtube Channel), ”I think he needs to do it for longer.
“This season I feel he really has matured disciplinary-wise and is keeping himself on the pitch. The finish against Porto, we’re seeing a different Morelos this season and fair play to him. He probably needs to do it over a longer period of time, though.”
Why should Morelos heed the former Celtic striker’s advice?
Sutton, who is often known to rile up Rangers fans with his views, is spot on with his assessment that Morelos should look to carry this form for long. The fact that he has improved on the disciplinary front has probably made more clubs take note of his recent performances. Moreover, the striker has the chance to earn his place in Rangers’ folklore if he goes on to deliver the title.
At clubs like Villa or say Leicester City, the Colombian will likely struggle to find game time initially. He will only be a player who is just a part of the roster whereas, at Ibrox, he would be adored by everyone. Gerrard has been able to build a team which is good enough to match Celtic and engage them in a tight title race.
Morelos will definitely have a big part to play in it, and the striker should take Sutton’s advice of staying on with Rangers for now and proving himself for a bit longer. Maybe he could attract interest from some of the heavyweights of football if he goes on to achieve something special with Rangers by the end of the season.
