Everton will play hosts to Tottenham Hotspur at Goodison Park on Sunday hoping to build on their 2-0 victory over Watford in the EFL Cup. The Toffees have looked far from their best in the Premier League this season, so this could be another chance for them to kickstart their campaign with a big win over Spurs this weekend.
Marco Silva will opt for a 4-2-3-1 formation and bring back most of his first-team starters for this encounter against Mauricio Pochettino’s men at Merseyside.
4-2-3-1 Everton Predicted Lineup To Face Tottenham Hotspur
Defence
Jordan Pickford will retain his spot in goal for the Merseyside outfit after keeping two clean sheets in his past three starts across all competitions. Yerry Mina is a slight doubt for this match and will be in a race against time to be fit and ready for selection this weekend. The Colombian defender could feature alongside Michael Keane at the heart of the backline as both centre-backs try to keep things stable at the back. However, they will have their hands full while up against one of the best strikers in Europe, Harry Kane.
Djibril Sidibe will get another chance to impress at right-back while Lucas Digne fills in on the other side as the left-back. Both full-backs will look to be a decent outlet for the Toffees going forward.
Seamus Coleman might have to settle for a place on the bench after playing the full 90 minutes against Watford in midweek.
Midfield
Andre Gomes and Tom Davies will look to strike up a solid partnership as the anchormen in midfield. Both players will hope to dictate play and establish the home side’s dominance at the centre of the park. The tricky trio of Alex Iwobi, Gylfi Sigurdsson and Theo Walcott will operate just ahead of them as part of Silva’s attack.
Sigurdsson will need to up his game considerably if the Toffees are to carry a goal-threat going forward. Both Iwobi and Walcott will be expected to stretch the pitch out on the flanks as they look to use their pace to wreak havoc in the final third.
Bernard will miss out on this clash due to injury which will be a big blow for Silva.
Attack
Richarlison will once again get the opportunity to lead the charge for the Blues of Merseyside up top. Both Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Moise Kean have struggled to score goals for Everton, so they will have to be content with a place on the Toffees bench. They might get a chance to make an impact in the game if Silva calls upon their services.
