Liverpool will entertain Napoli at Anfield on Wednesday night hoping to pick up maximum points which will ensure their passage through to the next round of the UEFA Champions League as the group winners. The Reds are coming into this contest on the back of a hard-fought win against Crystal Palace last weekend.
Jurgen Klopp will likely opt for a 4-3-3 formation and make a whole host of changes to his first-team for this upcoming clash versus the Naples outfit.
4-3-3 Liverpool Predicted Lineup To Face Napoli
Defence
Alisson Becker will retain his place in goal for the Reds despite struggling to keep clean sheets at the back this season. Joe Gomez could come into the Liverpool first-team and lineup alongside Virgil Van Dijk at the heart of Klopp’s backline. Dejan Lovren might be given a rest due to his heavy involvement in recent weeks.
Trent Alexander-Arnold will likely keep his place at right-back as he looks to create some decent chances for the front players in the Napoli half. Andrew Robertson will fill in on the other side as the left-back. The Scotland captain could be rested if he is still having problems with his calf. If so, then James Milner will start in his position in midweek.
The Merseyside giants have been leaky in defence over the past couple of months so Klopp would be hoping that his defenders can secure a shutout versus Carlo Ancelotti’s men.
Midfield
Milner could step into the midfield if Robertson is fit and it is expected that the English veteran will play along with Fabinho and Naby Keita at the centre of the park. Both Jordan Henderson and Georginio Wijnaldum might be given a rest so that they can save their legs for the league clash against Brighton and Hove Albion coming up next weekend.
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Adam Lallana will be available on the Reds bench and could come on to make an impact if required.
Attack
Klopp will likely go with his strongest front three of Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah on Wednesday night. Salah should be ready for this encounter versus Napoli after he missed out on the 2-1 victory over Crystal Palace last weekend.
Mane is enjoying a rich vein of form for the European champions this season so he would be confident about his chances of scoring in midweek.
