According to a recent report by the Sun, Manchester United are set to compete with Arsenal in pursuit of Atalanta winger Dejan Kulusevski who is currently playing on loan for Parma. The same source has also mentioned that Inter Milan and Southampton are also interested in acquiring the services of the £40m-rated Serie A defender with the Italians currently leading the race to land him.
Kulusevski’s Recent Emergence In Italian Football
The Swedish wide player has made an impressive start to this campaign after sealing a season-long loan move to the Ennio Tardini Stadium last summer. Kulusevski has scored two goals and provided five assists in 13 appearances for the Italian outfit this term on all fronts. He is averaging 1.0 shots, 2.6 key passes and 2.3 dribbles per game in the Italian top-flight (stats via whoscored).
The Stockholm-born talent has only made three senior appearances for his parent club Atalanta thus far. However, he has managed to break out as a first-team starter at Parma, and the early signs have been quite promising. The 19-year-old is widely regarded as one of the most promising young wingers in European football, so the Red Devils will do well to win the chase to sign him in the coming years.
Kulusevski is yet to make his international debut for Sweden, but he has managed to represent his nation at various youth levels. He has the potential to play an integral role for his country in the future.
What Does The Swedish Prospect Offer On The Field?
Kulusevski is deceptively quick and can make some driving runs with the ball down the right flank. He is versatile enough to play on the other side as the left-winger or assume to the duties of an attacking midfielder if required. The Swede’s versatility, coupled with his ability to get to the by-line makes him a useful option for any of his potential suitors.
Recruiting Kulusevski: Shrewd Move For Solskjaer?
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has already shown that he is looking to build for the future after signing Daniel James and Aaron Wan-Bissaka earlier this year. Hence, the Norwegian head coach could use another promising youngster in his squad who can add some creativity to the Man United frontline.
If given enough playing time to improve his game over the next few years, Kulusevski could blossom into a world-class wide player. Therefore, the Red Devils would be wise to do everything they can to acquire the Swedish youngster’s services.
