According to a recent report by ESPN, Premier League giants Manchester United have been linked with moves for a variety of Europe’s highest-rated players, with the likes of Erling Haaland and James Maddison topping the list. The Red Devils chiefs look to be prepared to give Ole Gunnar Solskjaer the time and money he needs to re-structure the United side, and he certainly doesn’t seem to be keeping their progress on the down-low.
They have also shown interest in some more players from the Premier League, with Bournemouth’s Callum Wilson, West Ham’s Declan Rice and Aston Villa duo John McGinn and Jack Grealish, all being considered by the United scouts. Elsewhere in Europe as well, they are said to be keeping tabs on Lyon’s young French striker Moussa Dembele as well as Borussia Dortmund’s exciting English winger Jadon Sancho.
What Areas Of The Pitch Does Ole Gunnar Solskjaer Need To Address?
Although David De Gea is undoubtedly one of the best keepers in the world on his day, he hasn’t been helped out too much by the Manchester United defence in recent years. While the acquisition of Harry Maguire has undoubtedly aided the situation, they still have a long way to go before a balance can be reached.
In midfield, as much as Scott McTominay’s resurgence is good news for United fans, it also highlights the sheer lack of quality in the United squad. Saying that a 22-year-old would be United’s first-choice midfielder would’ve been blasphemous a few years ago, but that’s how much the standard has dropped. Also, although they boast of both Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial in the attack, their inability to replace star striker Romelu Lukaku has come back to haunt them.
Here Are The Three Transfers That Manchester United Need To Prioritise:
James Maddison
The young Englishman has been a revelation at Leicester City this season. Under the able guidance of former Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers, Maddison seems to be moving from strength to strength. He can shoot from a distance and has an excellent set-piece delivery as well. Despite his tender age, he has proved to be the driving force of this Leicester side – a function that would serve this rather clueless Manchester United team, very well.
Declan Rice
Another one of the Premier League’s rising stars – Declan Rice has been a rock in the middle of the park for West Ham. He can act as a solid link between defence and attack, and also has the creativity to pick out some special long-passes. Although his team’s performances haven’t been overly inspiring in recent weeks, the youngster seems to have a certain consistency about him – a trait that has even earned him a place in England’s most recent starting lineup against Kosovo.
Moussa Dembele
The Frenchman’s move away from Lyon has begun to look inevitable in recent weeks, especially because of the number of clubs his name has been linked with. Quite possibly one of the most prolific and deadly strikers in all of Europe right now, the former Celtic man has been earning plaudits for his finishing ability. Manchester United have lacked a proper goalscorer for a while now, and Dembele could indeed be the perfect signing.
