Rangers will resume their title race with Celtic after the international break when they take on an injury-hit Hamilton Academical side. Just one goal difference separates Celtic and Rangers at the moment, and we could be in for a tight title race in the Premiership.
Accies boss Brian Rice has already admitted that his side is down to the bare bones. They couldn’t have asked for a worse fixture to begin after the international break as Rangers are currently the most in-form side in the Premiership. Rangers had earlier thrashed Hamilton last month by five goals to nil at Ibrox where Jermain Defoe grabbed a hattrick. Gerrard would be expecting another top performance from his players.
Team News: Jordan Jones has been sidelined for quite some time now, and he is likely to be unavailable again. Ryan Kent suffered a dead leg right before the international break. He tried to run it off while playing but he couldn’t carry on. The injury doesn’t seem to be too severe, and he should be alright for this fixture. Apart from that, Rangers doesn’t have injury concerns.
Rangers Predicted Lineup Vs Hamilton Academical
Formation (4-3-3)
Defence
Allan McGregor is set to continue in between the sticks. Connor Goldson has been the mainstay in defence under Gerrard, and he should play as the centre back. The other spot could go to the Croatian centre half Nikola Katic. James Tavernier will be in his usual right-back spot. Borna Barisic has been in exceptional form in the past few months, and he should start at left-back.
Midfield
Steven Davis will likely start in the middle. Ryan Jack has been outstanding this season for Rangers, and he does everything in the middle which Gerrard could ask from a midfielder. The Scottish international should start again. The other midfield spot could go to Joe Aribo.
Attack
Gerrard might decide to keep Ryan Kent under wraps with a crucial tie against Feyenoord coming up next. Therefore Brandon Barker might get to start on the left flank. Sheyi Ojo could feature from the right-wing spot. Alfredo Morelos has been in terrific form. Still, he could be rested given the fact that he started for Colombia in their latest tie against Ecuador and given a long journey back, it probably makes sense to provide him with some breather. Hence, Jermain Defoe could get the chance to lead the attack, and he will look to repeat his heroics against Hamilton again.
