Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid played out a tight 2-2 draw at the Santiago Bernabeu tonight, in a game that secured the Parisians’ position as the winner of their Champions League group. Although Los Blancos were two goals up at one point, two quick-fire strikes from the Ligue 1 champions saw the home lead erased in a matter of just seconds. Gareth Bale hit the post with an explosive free-kick in stoppage time, but the game ended in a tie.
Here are the Real Madrid players rated from their draw Vs PSG:
Thibaut Courtois – 5.5
The Belgian was quite commanding for most parts of the game but was shown a red card at one point, only for it to be called off by VAR. Could’ve dealt with the first PSG goal a lot better.
Dani Carvajal – 6
The full-back was barely used in an attacking perspective, as most of the Madrid attacking waves were on the left flank. His night got even worse once Neymar came into the game.
Raphael Varane – 5
The Frenchman had an extremely dominant game for most of the ninety minutes, only to gift PSG a silly goal in the second half. Effectively triggered the Parisian comeback as well.
Sergio Ramos – 6
The Spaniard was a monster in the air and dealt with most crosses into the box very well. He was troubled for the opening ten minutes but soon grew comfortable.
Marcelo – 8
Undoubtedly one of the Brazilian’s best performances in a Madrid shirt, his bombarding runs down the flank left the PSG defence with no answers. Setup the second goal with an excellent pass.
Federico Valverde – 8.5
The young midfield engine put up a truly inspiring display in the middle of the park, as he worked his absolute socks off in both the attacking and defensive phases of the fixture.
Casemiro – 6.5
Although he made a few excellent tackles in either half, he was never really able to influence the match from an attacking perspective. Did his defensive duties exceptionally well.
Toni Kroos – 7
Controlled the pace of the game from the middle of the park with his mazy dribbles and short passes. He played a big part in the second Madrid goal and put up a good display overall.
Isco – 7
The Spaniard was in excellent form tonight, often seen teasing the ball around the PSG players. He made a couple of decent flicks and was unlucky not to open the scoring.
Karim Benzema – 8
Another sensational display from the French striker as he popped up with two goals on the night. While the first was about positioning and reactions, the second was just pure quality.
Eden Hazard – 7
Although the Belgian had a positive impact on the team’s attacking play, he was never able to really penetrate the PSG back-line. Linked up extremely well with Marcelo down the left flank.
Substitutes
Gareth Bale – 7
The Welshman tried to apply himself in the latter stages of the game, but couldn’t influence the result. Saw a free-kick come off the post in the final seconds as well.
Luka Modric – 6
The Croatian, despite playing a couple of good balls, didn’t look as comfortable as he did last season.
Rodrygo – NA
Didn’t have time to impact the game.
