Alfredo Morelos is undoubtedly the biggest star at Rangers right now. The Colombian has been in stellar form this season as he has already grabbed 22 goals in all competitions and we are not even halfway through the season. The striker has also improved on his temperament as he is yet to see a red card this season after he was sent off five times in the last campaign.
There is no doubt that he will attract interest in January and Premier League clubs like Aston Villa and Crystal Palace have already been linked with him. The striker has also maintained that playing in the Premier League is his dream. However, Gerrard has made it quite evident that if left to him, Morelos will not go anywhere midway through the season.
Morelos’ agent urges clubs to sign him
Now Morelos’ agent has decided to make more noise about the striker’s future as he has called the prospective suitors to come and get him now before his price tag rockets in the future.
His agent Theofilos Karasavvidis recently said (Tuttomercatoweb), “He is a player who has always scored a lot since he arrived in Europe. This is a goal machine. He is a player worth following, (the clubs) who want a striker he must come and follow him. He does not have a very high (transfer) value. My advice is to take him before his name is on everyone’s lips.”
Rangers should be disappointed with this as Morelos’ agent is making unwanted noise about the player when the team management clearly wants him to stay at Ibrox for this season. Good thing for Rangers is that even though Morelos claims he will love a Premier League move, he has never given anything less than 100 percent in Rangers’ shirt even with all the transfer rumours going around him.
What does Gerrard need to do?
Gerrard will have to tread carefully in January and make sure that Morelos’ head doesn’t turn if there is a concrete approach by the Premier League clubs. Taking care of his agent is also going to be crucial as agents these days often feed the players with news which can affect the player’s judgement.
Why should Morelos look to stay?
Morelos has a chance to achieve something special with the Bears this season. The title race is likely going to go down to the wire, and if Rangers manage to get their hands on the league title, then Morelos could leave Ibrox as a legend in the summer of 2020. For Premier League clubs, he will just be a member of the roster, to begin with, and the Colombian should stick with Rangers for this season at least.
