Sheffield Wednesday are currently one point adrift of the second spot, and they will host their rivals Leeds United at home next. This game will be a perfect opportunity for the Owls to showcase that they are genuine contenders to move up a division this season.
Fans were sceptical when Garry Monk was appointed this summer, but the former Swansea manager has managed to win back over some of his naysayers. In terms of the form table, Sheffield are currently the second most in-form team in the last seven games as they have picked up 14 points.
Leeds United have been far from impressive in the last month as they have looked shaky on occasions. They have managed to gain just 8 points in the previous six games so form-wise, Monk’s men seem to be in a better situation. However, everyone is aware that Bielsa’s men are a dangerous side when they get going, and they have looked better away from home so far this season.
Team News: Former Leeds United man Tom Lees is expected to miss out. Massimo Luongo was forced off with a knock in the midweek tie against Stoke City. It could be touch and go with the Australian. Keiren Westwood scans came out positive, but it is uncertain whether he would be declared fit to face the Whites.
Sheffield Wednesday Predicted Lineup Vs Leeds United
Formation (4-1-4-1)
Defence
If Westwood is declared fit, then he might feature otherwise Cameron Dawson will start in goal. Dominic Iorfa is expected to begin in the heart of the defence. He should be partnered by German centre back Julian Börner who arrived this summer at the club. Liam Palmer will be in his usual right-back spot. Former Charlton defender Morgan Fox is expected to start over Moses Odubajo at left-back.
Midfield
The experienced Sam Hutchinson will start in the deepest role in midfield. He will have a big battle on his hands to keep the United attackers at bay. Barry Bannan will begin in a slightly advanced position in the middle. If Luongo isn’t able to recover from the knock which he sustained against Stoke, then Kieran Lee will start in the middle. Kadeem Harris is expected to feature from the left flank. The right-wing spot could go to Adam Reach.
Attack
Old warhorse Steven Fletcher is still going strong as he has five goals in the Championship so far. He is expected to lead the line once again.
