Everton will travel to the Amex Stadium to take on Brighton and Hove Albion on Saturday afternoon hoping to build on their recent 2-0 victory over West Ham United in the Premier League. The Toffees need to secure a run of favourable results if they intend to distance themselves from the dreaded drop zone. Hence, earning maximum points away at Brighton could give them the momentum to go on a winning run in the coming weeks.
Marco Silva is expected to stick with his favoured 4-2-3-1 formation and might name Gylfi Sigurdsson in his starting XI for this league encounter versus the Seagulls.
4-2-3-1 Everton Predicted Lineup To Face Brighton And Hove
Defence
Jordan Pickford will keep his place in between the sticks for the Toffees after securing a clean sheet against West Ham United last Saturday. Yerry Mina is a major doubt for this encounter and will be in a race against time to be fit and available for selection this weekend. The Colombian defender will lineup alongside Michael Keane at the centre of Silva’s backline. They have struck up a good partnership and will be confident about keeping things tight at the back against the Seagulls.
Djibril Sidibe might continue to feature as the right-back after he put in his best performance in an Everton shirt versus the Hammers earlier this month. Lucas Digne’s form has dipped a bit in recent matches so he will be hoping to put in a productive performance from the left-back position. Both full-backs will be expected to defend valiantly at the back and push up the pitch at the right moments to cause problems for the opposition in the final third.
Midfield
Andre Gomes and Tom Davies will retain their roles as the anchormen in midfield. Both players will be responsible for breaking down the Brighton attacks and creating some decent chances going forward on the counter. The talented trio of Bernard, Gylfi Sigurdsson and Theo Walcott will operate just ahead of them as part of the Toffees attack.
Sigurdsson managed to score his first goal of this campaign last weekend so he will be optimistic about replicating a similar goal-scoring display against the Seagulls on Saturday. Alex Iwobi will have to settle for a spot on the bench, but Silva might call upon his services if needed.
Attack
Richarlison will get another chance to lead the charge for the Merseyside outfit up top. He put in an excellent shift and was instrumental behind Everton’s 2-0 win over West Ham, so Silva might continue to play him as a centre-forward this weekend.
Both Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Moise Kean will have to settle for a spot on the Everton bench and might get a chance to make an impact in the game if required.
