Chelsea fans have been on cloud nine over the last couple of weeks, mainly owed to the stellar unbeaten streak that they’ve been on for a while now. Another huge positive that Chelsea fans seem to be revelling in is the fact that Christian Pulisic has started to fire on all cylinders.
The Blues were in blistering form on the night, as they easily dismantled a struggling Burnley team at Turf Moor. Their new American winger was the star of the show as he picked up the perfect hat-trick to open his Premier League account. Willian added the Blues’ fourth with a spectacular finish to take the game beyond the Clarets.
Here are the Chelsea Player ratings from what was an emphatic victory:
Kepa Arizzabalaga – 7.5
Was helpless about both Burnley goals, but did everything else perfectly well. Ashley Barnes’ deflected effort in the opening half took a bit of saving, and the Spanish number one did it well.
Cesar Azpilicueta – 7
The Spaniard was switched over to the left side of the Chelsea defence when Reece James came on. Put in a typically solid display, offering the pacy Burnley wingers no room to run into.
Kurt Zouma – 7.5
Was untroubled after the opening 10 minutes of the tie. The Frenchman bossed the Chelsea box the entire night, but couldn’t have done anything to stop Burnley scoring those two late consolation goals.
Fikayo Tomori – 7.5
Quite unfortunate that the 2nd Burnley goal actually deflected in off his knee. Another stellar performance at the back from the youngster, who is sure to give Rudiger a run for his money, when he returns from injury.
Marcos Alonso – 7.5
The Spaniard could displace Emerson from Chelsea’s side, at least for the short term, if he keeps up the good work. Linked up exceptionally well with Mount and Pulisic down the left flank.
Mateo Kovacic – 9
The Croatian seems to be getting better every game and Real Madrid might soon begin to regret letting him go. At one point, he used an audacious skill to beat two Burnley players simultaneously, which was cheered by every person in the stadium.
Jorginho – 8.5
The Italian keeps proving to the Blues fans that he is a top footballer and not just in the side because Maurizio Sarri brought him from Naples. Unfazed under severe pressure and composed in the worst of situations, he is a rock in midfield.
Mason Mount – 8
Although the youngster didn’t have the best last couple of games, he turned up again for this fixture at Turf Moor. His passing moves with Pulisic down the left flank completely outmanoeuvred Burnley’s defensive organisation.
Willian – 8.5
The Brazilian might be the oldest player in the Blues’ starting lineup, but it definitely didn’t show on the pitch. His change of pace left Erik Pieters dumbfounded on multiple occasions, and he picked up a brilliant goal too.
Tammy Abraham – 8
Didn’t have the impact that he would’ve hoped for but did well to set up Willian for the Blues’ fourth. Shouldn’t get too flustered about not scoring on the night as he’s still top of the golden boot charts.
Christian Pulisic – 10
The American golden boy seemed to be in the form of his life today, as he scored his first-ever hat-trick in club football. Having converted with the left foot, right foot and the back of his head, he even managed to make it the ‘perfect’ hat-trick.
Substitutes
Reece James – 6
Moved into his preferred position at right-back when he came on, but didn’t have the influence he would’ve been hoping for.
Callum Hudson-Odoi – 6.5
Caused the Burnley defence all kinds of problems after coming on, but unnecessarily got himself booked for simulation in the final minutes.
Olivier Giroud – 6
He was given the opportunity ahead of Batshuayi to come off the bench tonight, and unlike his Belgian compatriot’s involvement last week, he did not affect the game whatsoever.
