According to a recent report by Sky Sports, Manchester City are keeping a close eye on Dinamo Zagreb wide player Antonio Marin who is currently under contract until the summer of 2024. The same source has also revealed that the Citizens could face competition from Chelsea and Villarreal in pursuit of the Croatian whizkid.
Marin’s Recent Emergence In Croatian Football
The Zagreb-born talent began his playing career at NK ZET 1927 before he joined Dinamo Zagreb’s academy back in 2009. He has gradually worked his way up the youth ranks and finally managed to break out as a first-team starter last season.
The 18-year-old has been impressive during the early stages of this campaign. Marin has made six appearances for Zagreb this term and has provided one assist on all fronts. However, he is yet to find the back of the net this season.
The Croatian wing wizard is also highly versatile and can operate anywhere across the frontline. He is primarily a left-winger but can also fill in on the right flank or play as a centre-forward up top. He has also represented his nation at various youth levels and is currently a key member of the Croatia U-21 side.

Marin is deceptively quick and can make some dangerous runs with the ball down the wide areas. The Croatia U-21 star can also link-up play with others around him. However, his game has a lot of room for improvement as he is still quite a raw talent.
The Dinamo winger is one of the most promising young players coming out of Croatian football. Therefore, it makes sense for Pep Guardiola to bring Marin to the Etihad Stadium as he could be an ideal understudy to Raheem Sterling and Leroy Sane.

There is no doubt that Marin has enormous potential to be a world-class player in his position. However, he still has a long way to go before he is ready to taste first-team football at the highest level. Even then, Marin is a star in the making, so Man City should consider recruiting him in the future.
