Newcastle United will travel to the Stamford Bridge to take on Chelsea. Lampard has managed to turn the tide a bit after a shaky start to his managerial career with the Blues. The Magpies should be high on confidence as they are coming on the back of a win against Manchester United at home.
Steve Bruce’s task though would be cut out as Newcastle have just won one of their last 25 away games against Chelsea. However, both wins of Newcastle this season has come against the so-called ‘big six’. Therefore they are well set up to defend, and they can hit on the counter with venom. But on paper, Chelsea should have enough firepower to see out the Tyneside club.
Team News: Long term absentee Florian Lejeune could travel with the squad to London. The defender has impressed the coaches with his recovery after resuming training. Matt Ritchie is going to miss out once again, and he is expected to be back by the end of this month. Isaac Hayden is not available for selection due to his suspension.
Newcastle United predicted lineup Vs Chelsea
Formation (5-4-1)
Defence
Martin Dubravka is an obvious pick in goal for Steve Bruce. Jamaal Lascelles should start in a central position in the primary back three. Ciaran Clark was a surprise pick over Dummett against Manchester United, and the Irish defender had a good game.
Therefore we expect him to keep his place and start on the left of Lascelles. Fabian Schar has been the mainstay at the back, and he will definitely start on the right.
In the wing-back role, Jetro Willems has surprised everyone with his performances in place of Ritchie. He should start on the left. American international DeAndre Yedlin should begin on the right. The two wing-backs will fall deep when out of possession, and when United get the ball, they will look to bomb forward.
Midfield
Allan Saint-Maximin was terrific against the Red Devils as his directness and pace caused a lot of trouble. He should start on the left, and he will remain a significant threat while going forward. Matthew Longstaff had a dream debut, and we expect him to continue in the central areas. His elder brother Sean should partner him in midfield. Miguel Almiron has looked a bit patchy but produced few good moments in the last game. He should start on the right flank.
Attack
Joelinton is expected to start over Andy Carroll upfront.
