Celtic swatted aside Aberdeen last weekend with disdain as they produced a stellar first-half performance to win 4-0. Rangers too managed to get the job done in their clash against Motherwell, so both the Glaswegian giants are once again level on points on the table. The Hoops will now host St. Mirren in a midweek clash at Celtic Park to maintain their domination on the top of the table.
Last week was supposed to be a tough one for Lennon’s men, but they had the answers against Lazio as well as Aberdeen. However, they cannot afford to step off the gas as we are seemingly in for a very tight title race. St. Mirren are coming on the back of a narrow defeat against Kilmarnock. The Saints are currently 10th on the table having suffered six losses in the first ten games of the season. Celtic will obviously go in as the clear favourites at home for this clash.
Team News: Scott Bain is still out with a hand injury. Leigh Griffiths is expected to be back in training soon, but he is unlikely to be match fit to be involved in this midweek game. Michael Johnston and Marian Shved are also going to be unavailable. Defender Jozo Simunovic is a long term absentee. Olivier Ntcham is also a doubt.
Celtic Predicted Lineup Vs St. Mirren
Formation (4-2-3-1)
Defence
Fraser Forster hardly had anything to do against the Dons. He will keep his place in goal. Kristoffer Ajer has done well in the past few games, and he is likely to start in defence. Nir Bitton could be given a go in the team in place of Jullien at the back.
Jonny Hayes might get the nod ahead of Boli Bolingoli-Mbombo who has played continuously in the last few weeks. Jeremie Frimpong could start on the right once again after impressing in recent outings.
Midfield
Scott Brown will likely play in the defensive role in midfield. Callum McGregor could be given a breather in this clash, and Tom Rogic might get to play in a slightly deeper role in the middle. Ryan Christie who missed the tie against Aberdeen due to suspension is set to be available for selection, and he could slot in the attacking midfield role. Mohamed Elyounoussi is expected to start over Scott Sinclair again on the left flank. James Forrest should keep his place on the right-wing.
Attack
Odsonne Edouard is a crucial player for the Bhoys, and he deserves some rest with some crucial games to come. Vakoun Issouf Bayo might get the nod to lead the line.
