TalkSPORT presenter Andy Goldstein has tipped Everton to be the perfect fit for the former Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho when he said, “I think Everton’s just the perfect fit.
“They’ve got millions to spend, they’re in the bottom three. I just think Everton’s the perfect fit.
“They’ve got money to spend, they’re desperate for success.
“When he was at Porto and when he was at Inter, biggish clubs but nowhere near the size of Manchester United and Real Madrid, that’s like Everton.
“I think it’s a perfect fit, he’ll have money to spend, he’ll have £300m and he’ll win them trophies, he’ll get them back into the top six again, dare I say it even top four.
“They’ll be expectation there but nowhere near like the expectation at White Hart Lane.”
Will Everton Be A Good Fit For Mourinho?
Mourinho has been out of football management since he left the managerial position at Old Trafford. However, the Portuguese manager might fancy another stint in the Premier League so that he can restore his reputation as one of the best managers in European football.
The Toffees have not won a trophy since their FA Cup triumph in 1995, so their supporters will be desperate for some silverware which none of the past managers has come close to winning. Therefore, the Evertonians would hope that a big-name manager like Mourinho can come in and hopefully restore Everton’s status in the upper echelons of English football.
If the 56-year-old plays his cards right, then he could even become an Evertonian legend. However, in reality, Marco Silva is still the Merseyside club’s head coach. Even though the ex-Watford manager has made a disastrous start to this campaign, there might be time for him to turn things around for the better at Goodison Park.
Jose Mourinho Vs Marco Silva: Who Has The Edge?
In his last job, Mourinho took charge of 144 matches for the Red Devils, winning 84, drawing 31 and losing 29 of those games with a PPG (Points Per Game) average of 1.97 (stats via transfermarkt). If he can even come close to replicating similar numbers at Goodison Park, then the Toffees supporters will be more than happy to have him on board.
Comparatively, Silva’s tenure at Merseyside has been far from convincing. The 42-year-old has taken charge of 53 matches for the Premier League outfit, winning 22, drawing 10 and losing 21 of those fixtures thus far (stats via transfermarkt). The fact that he has nearly lost as many matches as he has won as the Everton head coach does not bode well for him in the long-run.
Will Mourinho Be The Perfect Candidate To Replace Silva?
Furthermore, Mourinho is a serial winner as he has won trophies with almost every club he has managed. There is no doubt that the former Chelsea boss will be a far better appointment than Marco Silva, who has been average at best during his time with the Toffees.
