In a recent segment with Reach PLC’s Transfer Window Podcast (via the Daily Star), Ian McGarry revealed, “A well-known agent has contacted Massimiliano Allegri representatives in the last seven days to find out whether or not he would be interested in taking over from Marco Silva if he was to be sacked.
“This is a normal process and what we cannot confirm is if this was instructed by Everton, these things often happen in this way.”
Allegri’s Stellar Managerial C.V. In European Football
The former Juventus boss has also been linked with Manchester United, but an agreement has failed to take place between the two parties thus far (via the Daily Star). Allegri is currently one of the most recognised managers in world football. He famously won the Serie A title five times in a row when he was the head coach of Juventus. However, the Italian boss finds himself out of work at this moment, so it is no surprise that so many clubs are lining up to secure his services.
The 52-year-old made a name for himself at AC Milan, winning 91, drawing 49 and losing 38 games during his time at the San Siro (stats via transfermarkt). Juve decided to bring him in as their new boss back in 2014. Allegri went on to take charge of 271 matches with 191 wins, 41 draws and 39 losses to his name at the Allianz Stadium (stats via transfermarkt). There is no doubt that the Italian tactician can be a massive coup for the Toffees if they can find a way to convince him to take over the managerial duties at Goodison Park.
Everton boss Marco Silva is a man under fire at this moment, but he has still managed to mastermind a 2-0 win over West Ham United on Saturday afternoon which has eased some pressure off his shoulders.
What Makes The Italian Such A Highly Sought After Manager?
Allegri is a master tactician and could be an ideal replacement for Silva at the Merseyside club. The Italian boss is not afraid to stamp his authority and make some drastic changes to his team. His managerial style will suit the Toffees as their current squad requires an extreme makeover. Some of the underperforming Everton players need to be moved on, and Allegri could be the influential figurehead who can take such difficult decisions.
Swapping Silva For Allegri: Good Move For The Toffees?
It would be an excellent move for the Premier League club if they can appoint the former Cagliari Calcio head coach as Silva’s successor. However, it is quite far-fetched to consider the Italian manager choosing the Merseyside outfit when a few of Europe’s top clubs including Man United will be desperate to recruit him.
