Rangers will look to maintain their supremacy on the top of the table as they travel to the Tynecastle on Sunday to take on Hearts of Midlothian. Celtic dropping points in back to back league games allowed the Gers to open up a two-point lead just before the international break.
Hearts are going through a torrid run of form as they have won just one encounter in the Premiership so far. Rangers are on a good run as they have won their last four league games in a row and Gerrard will look to stretch that to five. The international break would have allowed Craig Levein to regroup and see where he has gone wrong so far. On form, Rangers should win this, but the Jambos can be a tough nut to crack on their home turf.
Team News: Big news for Rangers is that Ryan Kent is back in training and he should be available for selection. Jordan Jones is likely to miss out along with fullback Jon Flanagan. Midfielder Ryan Jack will be a big miss for Gerrard. Summer arrival Brandon Barker is also doubtful for this tie.
Rangers Predicted Lineup Vs Hearts Of Midlothian
Formation (4-3-3)
Defence
Allan McGregor is a sure shot starter in goal for the Bears. George Edmundson put in a terrific display against Hamilton before the international break, and we believe that he should be given a run in this tie as well. The more experienced Connor Goldson should partner him in the centre back role.
Captain James Tavernier should be in his usual right-back position. Borna Barisic has managed to turn around his Rangers career in the past month, and he has been very effective on the left side of the defence. The Croatian is likely to start at left-back.
Midfield
The experienced Steven Davis has been a standout player so far, and he should start in the defensive midfield role. Greg Stewart has managed to catch the eye in midfield in the past few weeks, and he could begin in midfield once again. Glen Kamara is likely to complete the midfield three for Gerrard.
Attack
Ryan Kent might be back, but we think that he should be slowly eased into the team, especially when the Porto game isn’t far away. Therefore we are going in with Scott Arfield down the left and Kent could come on for a cameo later on. Sheyi Ojo is expected to play from the right flank. Alfredo Morelos started for Colombia in their midweek game so he could be rested and Jermain Defoe might lead the line.
