In a recent interview (via the Daily Star), Crystal Palace centre-forward Wilfried Zaha has insisted that he is happy with how things are going for him at the London club and said, “I’m seeing how it goes. I’m a Crystal Palace player and I’m just trying to perform to the best of my ability for my club.
“I’m not thinking about anything else and just taking each day as it comes. The season’s gone well so far. We’ve got a lot more in us.
“I’m happy with the squad and everyone’s happy with where we are right now. All I can do is perform on the pitch. I’m trying to be a consistent performer on the pitch week in, week out.
“Last season I set myself a target of 10 goals and managed to get 10, so I was happy. Hopefully I can reach my goals again – that’s all that’s on my mind.”
Zaha was heavily linked with a move away from Selhurst Park earlier this summer with Arsenal, Everton and Chelsea eager to secure his services (via the Daily Star). However, a transfer failed to materialise, and the Ivorian forward ended up staying with the Eagles.
Zaha’s Slow Start Has Not Affected The Eagles This Season
The 26-year-old has made a slow start to this campaign as he is yet to find the back of the net after featuring in nine matches for Palace across all competitions. However, he has managed to get one assist to his name so far. The Selhurst-outfit are currently sitting pretty in sixth place of the Premier League standings with a healthy tally of 14 points.
Zaha has also had the honour of playing for Ivory Coast, having made nine appearances for his homeland while netting two goals in the process. The Abidjan-born speedster has a wealth of experience in the top tier of England after featuring in a total of 185 league matches, scoring 32 goals while creating 35 assists on all fronts.
What Does The Ivorian Sensation Offer On The Pitch?
Zaha is one of the quickest players in the English top-flight and tends to come alive when left isolated in a 1v1 scenario with his marker. He is also lethal inside his opposition penalty area as he can dribble with the ball at high speed to get to the by-line and create some decent openings in the final third.
Zaha Happy With Life At Palace: Huge Boost For Hodgson?
It seems like Zaha is happy with how things are falling in place under Roy Hodgson’s tutelage at Selhurst Park which will be a massive boost for the Eagles. He is arguably Palace’s best weapon going forward so Hodgson cannot afford to lose him if he wants to bring success to the English capital in the coming years.
