Leeds United faced off against Millwall in the Sky Bet Championship earlier today hoping to pick up maximum points on the road. The Whites suffered a huge set-back when Gaetano Berardi was given his marching orders in the 14th minute. Jed Wallace gave his team the lead in the 16th minute when he scored from the penalty spot. Tom Bradshaw doubled Millwall’s advantage just before half-time.
Marcelo Bielsa’s men had a mountain to climb in the second half, but they managed to find the back of the net via Ezgjan Alioski’s strike from close range. However, the 10-men of Leeds failed to find the equaliser as the contest finished 2-1 in favour of the Lions after the full-time whistle.
Let’s take a look at how each Leeds United player fared during the match against Milwall.
GK: Kiko Casilla – 6/10
The Leeds goalie was good with his feet and made some vital clearances for the visitors. However, he ended up conceding two goals on the day, which will disappoint him.
RB: Luke Ayling – 7/10
The Whites captain put in a tireless shift at right-back. He grew stronger as the match went on and was unlucky not to have helped his side equalise in the second half.
CB: Ben White – 7.5/10
He made a poor mistake in the first half, but fortunately, Milwall couldn’t capitalise on their chance. However, White was sensational in the second half and commanded his own box with authority and conviction.
CB: Gaetano Berardi – 3/10
Berardi was sent off in the 14th minute after he committed a foul inside the Leeds penalty box. He cost his teammates today and will have to carry that burden moving forward.
LB: Ezgjan Alioski – 6/10
The Whites left-back was poor in the first half but put in a much-improved display in the second. He got a goal for Bielsa’s team which gave them some hope of a comeback.
CDM: Kalvin Phillips – 5/10
He had a quiet game at the heart of Bielsa’s midfield.
RM: Hélder Costa – 5/10
The Leeds new boy struggled to get involved and failed to create anything meaningful going forward.
CM: Mateusz Klich – 6/10
Klich was not creative enough with his passes and was guilty of squandering a great chance during the game.
CM: Stuart Dallas – 6/10
He worked his socks off even after being utilised as a makeshift right-back following the dismissal of Berardi early on in the game.
LM: Jack Harrison – 6.5/10
The talented wide player made some clever runs with the ball and got an assist to show for his efforts.
ST: Patrick Bamford – 6/10
He held the ball up well in the lead-up to Alioski’s goal early in the second half. Bamford didn’t offer too much going forward.
Substitutes:
LB: Barry Douglas – 6/10
He put in a real shift down the left flank, but his final delivery was not good enough.
ST: Tyler Roberts – 5/10
He came off the bench but failed to rescue his team by scoring the equaliser.
ST: Eddi Nketiah – 5/10
Nketiah struggled to make an impact in the game as he had very little service to work with today.
