According to a recent report by El Desmarque (translated by the Sun), Arsenal have tabled a €20m (£17.3m) bid to secure the signature of Lucas Vasquez from Real Madrid when the transfer window reopens in January. The same source has also mentioned that the Gunners will face stiff competition from Bayer 04 Leverkusen and AS Roma in pursuit of the Galacticos wide player.
Vasquez’s Frustrations In The Spanish Top-Flight
It is believed that Vasquez has had a fall out with his manager Zinedine Zidane after he found himself on the fringes of the Madrid squad behind the likes of Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo. Hence, he will likely be desperate to part ways with the La Liga leaders in search of more game time this winter.
The 28-year-old has only made eight appearances for Los Blancos this term, scoring one goal in the process across all competitions. He is a product of the Real Madrid youth system and has previously won the UEFA Champions League three times with his boyhood club.
The Galacticos winger has also secured nine international caps for the Spanish national side but is yet to register a goal for his country.
What Are The Spanish Winger’s Strengths And Weaknesses?
Vasquez has very quick feet which help him get past his marker down the wide areas. He is primarily a right-sided wide player who can stretch the pitch for his side by getting to the by-line. The Spanish talent can also play some neat passes with others around him but often fails to come up with the finishing touch in the final third. For a player of the Spaniard’s talents, he should score more goals going forward.
Should The Galacticos Part Ways With Vasquez In January?
However, Vasquez has failed to break into the world-class bracket during his time at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium. So this could be his last chance to move to a big club in the hopes of reigniting his career in European football.
Zidane will better off parting ways with Vasquez during the January transfer window so that he can use the money generated from his sale to rebuild his underperforming squad at the Spanish capital.
