Nottingham Forest are currently occupying the direct promotion spots in the Championship, and not many would have seen that coming. Their only defeat of the season came in their first encounter against West Brom, and since then Lamouchi’s men have been unbeaten in the league.
Next, they will travel to the DW Stadium to take on a struggling Wigan Athletic side who are languishing at the 19th spot on the table. The Latics have shown improvements in their last few games, but an in-form Nottingham might be too tough for them to handle.
Wigan though have a good home record so far as only Leeds United have managed to pick full points from this venue. The Latics have never lost a home tie against Nottingham, so we are expecting an exciting battle on Sunday.
Team News: Midfielder Ryan Yates is back in training after missing the season so far. Defender Tendayi Darikwa is a long term absentee after suffering a ruptured ACL. Samba Sow’s situation is uncertain after he limped off in the tie against Brentford. Defender Michael Dawson is expected to be back in contention to start. Alfa Semedo is also closing in on a return.
Nottingham Forest predicted Lineup Vs Wigan Athletic
Formation (4-2-3-1)
Defence
Goalkeeper Brice Samba is an obvious pick in goal after impressing so far this season. The summer arrival even went on to win the club’s player of the month in September. Joe Worrall has also been impressive at the back and has shown a lot of maturity. He will start in defence. Michael Dawson is likely to be available, but Lamouchi might be cautious about rushing him back so 27-year-old Chema might continue in the centre back role.
Matty Cash is expected to the lineup at right back. The left-back spot could go to Yuri Ribeiro.
Midfield
If Sow is fit, then he will likely start in the middle. If he misses out, then John Bostock should get the nod. Ben Watson scored the winner before the international break, and he should keep his place in midfield.
Tiago Silva is likely to play as the attacking midfielder. Albert Adomah might get the chance to start on the right flank. The left-wing spot could go either to Joao Carvalho or Sammy Ameobi. We are going in with Carvalho.
Attack
Rafa Mir is back fit, but the experienced Lewis Grabban is expected to lead the line for the Reds.
