Leeds United might be playing one of the most eye-catching brands of football in the Championship, but they haven’t got too many end product to show for their cause. Among the top 9 teams, they have scored the least number of goals in the Championship so far. That is certainly a sorry stat given that their primary focus is on playing attacking football.
It’s clear that the Whites need some more firepower upfront. As things stand, they might continue to struggle to hit the back of the net, and that could cost them big time come the end of the season. Patrick Bamford does a lot of things right, but he lacks the killer instinct. On the other hand, Eddie Nketiah is waiting in the wings to get his chances. However, we think that the club should be on the lookout for a new forward and here are three options they should consider.
Dominic Solanke
The English youngster who was touted for big things has failed to get going in the last few years. The striker was unable to make a breakthrough in the Liverpool lineup and was sold to Bournemouth. Even the Cherries have two in-form forwards in Callum Wilson and Joshua King, and Solanke has struggled for game time.
The striker probably needs to take a step down to the Championship like his England youth teammate Tammy Abraham. Solanke has everything to his game which a striker needs as he is strong and can hold up play well. Along with that, he works hard off the ball and can make runs between the channels. Bielsa could consider getting him on loan in January to add more firepower.
Dwight Gayle
The Newcastle United forward is a proven player at the Championship level, and he is someone who is a natural in front of goal. He has that killer instinct which Bamford lacks, and the Whites should have looked at him in the summer. Joelinton and Andy Carroll seem to be ahead in the pecking order, and maybe Steve Bruce would allow to leave him on loan in January.
Oumar Niasse
The Everton forward has got the experience of playing in the Europa League and the Premier League. Niasse has got impressive pace and physicality, and he should be a handful in the Championship. The forward has fallen below in the pecking order after the arrival of Moise Kean.
Niasse has got killer instincts in front of the goal, and he can find the back of the net regularly. Moreover, he is also known to be a hard worker off the ball.
