Real Madrid plays host to Levante on La Liga Matchday 4 in an afternoon kick-off at the Santiago Bernabeu this Saturday. Los Blancos have had a mediocre start to the season with only 5 points from three fixtures. Levante are presently placed one position above Real Madrid in the points tally on the fourth position with six points.
It will be an interesting fixture for Zidane who has not had the best of starts to the season with Real Madrid. The Whites also have to make the trip to France to play against PSG in the UEFA Champions League midweek. Zidane would have to carefully pick and chose his line-up against Levante to not make the trip to the Parc des Princes with tired legs.
Injuries have been a spoilsport in Real Madrid’s 2019/20 season so far with the likes of Asensio, Hazard, Isco, James, and Brahim all out of contention for the fixture.
Summer signing, Rodrygo could possibly make his debut off the bench for Los Blancos against Levante. Another notable absentee from Real Madrid would be Gareth Bale, who is serving a suspension for the two yellow cards he picked up against Villarreal.
Defence
Thibaut Courtois would be the man guarding the sticks for Los Blancos. New signing, Areola is expected to make the bench for this fixture. Dani Carvajal would occupy the right-back position over second choice Alvaro Odriozola. The pairing of Raphael Varane and Sergio Ramos would be taking up the two centre back spots.
Marcelo is most likely to return to the starting eleven after being rested against Villarreal. Mendy is expected to start in the UEFA Champions League fixture, and thus Marcelo could be given the nod for this La Liga clash. Marcelo was also not called for international duty and trained at the Valdebebas throughout the international break.
Midfield
Toni Kroos is expected to be rested for this fixture, and Federico Valverde could be replacing the German in the starting eleven. Casemiro and Modric are expected to start alongside Federico to have a good balance of youth and experience in the midfield.
Attack
Lucas Vasquez would be given the nod for this fixture with Gareth Bale not eligible due to the red card he picked up against the Yellow Submarines. Karim Benzema would start in the number nine position with Vinicius Junior to his other side. Luka Jovic’s availability is a doubt for this encounter following his physical concerns during international duty.
