According to a recent report by Don Balon, Real Madrid are plotting a mammoth €210m bid to secure the services of Liverpool winger Mohamed Salah. The same source has claimed that the Egyptian wide player will be prepared to force a move if the Reds fail to win the Premier League or the UEFA Champions League this season.
Salah’s Remarkable Spell At Merseyside
The 27-year-old is currently playing at his prime, so his desire to win more silverware could pave the away for him to seal a move to the Spanish capital next summer. The Premier League superstar has made a fantastic start to this campaign after netting three goals and creating two assists in four league matches so far.
Salah has established himself amongst the best players in England and has managed to help Liverpool end their trophy drought by winning the Champions League last season. He gave the Reds an early lead after converting a penalty against Tottenham Hotspur before sealing a 2-0 victory in the European Cup final.
The Egyptian winger also came very close to winning the Premier League title with Liverpool in the previous campaign when Manchester City were crowned the champions of England after finishing one point above the Merseyside outfit. Salah will be desperate to end his side’s long wait for a league title this season.
Since his high-profile switch from AS Roma in the summer of 2017, Salah has gone to make 110 appearances for the Reds, netting 74 goals while creating 31 assists across all competitions. He also has a wealth of experience playing for Egypt after featuring in 67 matches for his nation while scoring 41 goals in the process.
Why The Reds Cannot Afford To Part Ways With Salah Next Summer
Liverpool cannot afford to let a player of Salah’s pedigree depart as it could leave Jurgen Klopp with a huge hole to fill in his squad. The former Chelsea wide player has been at the centre of everything positive that the Merseyside giants have achieved over the past couple of seasons. He is also a vital member of Klopp’s frontline so the Reds would be foolish to part ways with him in the coming years.
Salah’s current contract at Anfield is set to run out in the summer of 2023 and more importantly, it does not contain a release clause. Therefore Klopp will be under no pressure to do business with the Galacticos next summer. Even though a €210m bid will be tempting for the club’s owners, Fenway Sports Group, they still cannot allow a top-class player like Salah to leave when the Reds are in with a chance of becoming serial winners once again in English football.
