According to a recent report by Goal.com, Liverpool are among a whole host of clubs monitoring the development of Villarreal CF wide player Samuel Chukwueze. The same source has also claimed that the Reds have been left impressed by the La Liga prospect’s progress at the Estadio de la Cerámica over the past year.
Goal.com expects the Villarreal rising star to switch clubs sooner rather than later as he looks to break into the world-class bracket in the coming years.
Chukwueze’s Brilliant Spell In The Spanish Top-Flight
The Nigerian winger joined the Diamond Academy back in his homeland at an early age before his career-defining move to Spain in the summer transfer window of 2017. He has worked his way up Villarreal’s youth ranks before finally breaking out as a first-team starter last season.
Chukwueze has scored nine goals and grabbed three assists in 41 appearances for Javier Calleja’s side thus far. He has made an impressive start to this La Liga campaign after he found the back of the net against Granada which helped his team secure a 4-4 draw at home last month.
The 20-year-old has also secured nine international caps for Nigeria and has registered one goal for his country in the process. Chukwueze has remarkable potential and could become a future star if he is willing to put in the work to improve his game on the training ground.
What Will The Nigerian Wing Wizard Bring To Merseyside?
The Nigeria international is very direct with his runs and is not afraid to take on his marker when left isolated in a 1v1 situation. He can use his blistering pace to wreak havoc out in the wide areas and is quite accurate with his attempts from long range. However, Chukwueze is still a raw talent and would need time to prepare himself for the physicality and high intensity of English football.
The Villarreal sensation will undoubtedly bolster Jurgen Klopp’s attacking options significantly at Anfield. He will also increase competition for the likes of Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah, Divock Origi and Xherdan Shaqiri for a place on the wing in the Liverpool starting XI. Chukwueze has the makings of a top-class winger, but he is yet to prove his worth at the highest level. Hence, a potential move to Merseyside in the future could benefit the Reds as well as the player.
