Charlton Atheltic started their season well, but they have now suffered two back to back defeats to drop to the 8th spot. However, there is not much to choose between the top teams as the Addicks trail Leeds United by three points. They will have an excellent chance to move up the table as they will host the league leaders at the Valley this weekend.
Former Leeds United player Lee Bowyer is in charge at the Valley, and he will certainly look to get one over his former team. Charlton have slightly surprised everyone as they moved up a division from League One and shared the top spot of the league table with the Whites in the first few weeks of the season. It remains to be seen whether Charlton will be able to carry on their impressive run.
Team News: Bowyer will be without his top scorer Lyle Taylor again. The striker suffered an injury during the international break, and Charlton have failed to score even once in the last 180 minutes without him in the Championship. Beram Kayal is also expected to miss out. Jason Pearce has recovered from his injury, and he should be in contention to play.
Charlton Athletic Predicted Lineup Vs Leeds United
Formation (4-1-2-1-2)
Defence
Dillon Phillips will start in goal for Bowyer once again, and he would be looking to keep a clean sheet after conceding in the last two ties. Former Leeds United defender Jason Pearce, who made over 100 appearances for the Whites, could return to the starting lineup in place of Sarr. Tom Lockyer, who joined from Bristol City, should partner Pearce at the back.
Deji Oshilaja is likely to keep his place as the right-sided fullback. Ben Purrington should start as the left-back once again.
Midfield
Experienced campaigner Darren Pratley is expected to be in his typical defensive midfield role. He will find it tough to cope with the threats of the dynamic Leeds United players. Conor Gallagher, who is on loan from Chelsea, should start in midfield. Irishman Josh Cullen should partner him in the middle of the park. Jonny Williams is expected to play as an attacking midfielder, and he will be the creative force of this side.
Attack
Jonathan Leko is expected to keep his place in attack. Taylor has been a major miss in attack for Bowyer as he had scored five goals in six appearances. In his absence, Tomer Hemed is likely to start.
