Leicester City have made an impressive start to the season so far as they are sitting third on the table. It wouldn’t be too far fetched to say that they can genuinely challenge for the top 4 this season. Ever since Brendan Rodgers has taken over, the Foxes have looked imposing on both ends of the pitch.
Their recent performance against Tottenham Hotspur proved that they could challenge the big boys of the Premier League as well. One player who managed to catch the eye was James Maddison who scored a spectacular winner late on as Leicester completed a turnaround after being down by one goal. Maddison’s stock has been rising ever since he moved to the Premier League from Norwich City.
Gary Pallister on which Leicester player should United target
Manchester United legend and former England international Gary Pallister believes (Leicestershire Live) that Ole Gunnar Solskjær should look to sign him for the Red Devils as he claimed that the English playmaker could take United to the next level. However, we think that the Maddison should stick with Leicester City for the time being as maybe this season the Foxes might finish over United. Moving to Old Trafford could turn out to be a downward step in Maddison’s career.
Under Rodgers, he is getting to play regularly in his preferred attacking position. Moreover, the Foxes are on an upward trajectory as they have got a good group of young players. If they can stick together for a few years, then they could be one of the teams to watch out for in the future.
What makes Maddison special?
Maddison’s energy and ability to drive the ball forward and make sharp movements, make him a standout player. Moreover, he is always looking to make something happen in the final third. He is a real live wire in and around the opposition penalty box. The Englishman can also strike the ball with a lot of power and accuracy. We don’t often see genuine outright no. 10’s in modern-day football, but Maddison is one player who fits that role perfectly.
How can Leicester keep him?
There is no doubt that there are going to be plenty of clubs queuing up for his signature if he continues with his impressive form. Rodgers and Leicester need to make sure that they keep Maddison for the time being and make him believe in the project at the King Power Stadium. If Leicester can get a place in the Champions League or even the Europa League, then that will go a long way in keeping the Englishman happy at Leicester.
