Leeds United will travel to the DW Stadium to take on Wigan Athletic in their third game of the Championship this season. The Whites should have had a perfect start to their campaign, but they were held by Nottingham Forest at home even though they were the better side. Bielsa’s men registered a comfortable 3-0 victory against Salford City in the midweek Carabao Cup tie.
The Whites are considered as one of the favourites to occupy the top two spots, and they have looked sharp once again. Wigan are coming on the back of two defeats, and they have been winless in their last three home games against Leeds United. United will hope that they can be clinical in front of goal in this clash.
Team News: Luke Ayling and Tyler Roberts are likely to miss out as they are out with injuries.
Leeds United Predicted Lineup Vs Wigan Athletic
Formation (4-1-4-1)
Defence
Kiko Casilla made some smart saves against Salford, and he will start in goal. Hopefully, he will not have many brain fart moments in this game. There were questions about Ben White as he hadn’t played many games for Brighton, but the youngster has shown his calmness and composure. He will start in defence.
Club captain Liam Cooper should be back after sitting out the midweek game. Stuart Dallas is expected to start on the right side of the defence. He will look to bomb forward at every opportunity. Barry Douglas should start as a left-back.
Midfield
Kalvin Phillips will play in his typical defensive midfield role. Mateusz Klich scored a fantastic goal against Salford, and he will look to continue his excellent work against Wigan as well. He will start in central midfield. Adam Forshaw will partner him in central areas.
Pablo Hernandez is the chief orchestrator in attack for the Whites. He will start on the right flank, but he will often drift inside to get on the ball in central areas to affect play. Jack Harrison should be well-rested after sitting out the last game and the Manchester City loanee man is expected to start on the left flank.
Attack
Eddie Nketiah impressed in the last game against Salford, and he even got himself on the scoresheet. However, Bielsa is likely to persist with Patrick Bamford upfront in this tie. Bamford would be aware that Nketiah is knocking on the door for a start and he will have to pick his game up if he wants to continue as the first-choice striker.
