Charlton Athletic have started their season brightly as they are unbeaten in their three Championship games so far and they are one of the five top teams level on seven points. Next, they will be hosting Nottingham Forest at the Valley in a midweek clash.
The Addicks are unbeaten in their last six encounters with Nottingham though they have managed to win only two and drawing four. The Tricky Trees meanwhile registered their first win in the league this season in the last game as they went past Birmingham City with ease as they won by three goals to nil. Lee Bowyer will look to continue the excellent run of the Addicks as they are emerging as surprise playoff contenders after winning promotion back to the Championship.
Team News: Chris Solly suffered a head injury against Barnsley, and as a precautionary measure, he will not take part in the tie against Nottingham Forest. Lewis Page is also reeling with an injury, and it might be a while before he makes a come back to the starting eleven. Erhun Oztumer is also a doubt. Lyle Taylor took a knock in the last game, but he should be fit to start.
Charlton Atheltic Predicted Lineup Vs Nottingham Forest
Formation (4-1-4-1)
Defence
Dillon Phillips will start in goal for Bowyer once again, and he would be looking to keep a cleansheet after conceding two against Barnsley. Experienced defender Jason Pearce will begin in the heart of the defence, and he should be partnered by Tom Lockyer who joined the club this season from Bristol City.
With Chris Solly likely to miss out, Deji Oshilaja should start at right-back as he took Solly’s place as a substitute in the last game after his head injury. Ben Purrington will keep his place at left-back.
Midfield
The experience of Darren Pratley is likely to be used by Bowyer in a defensive midfield role. Conor Gallagher, who is on loan from Chelsea, should start in central midfield. Irish midfielder Josh Cullen should partner him in the central areas. Wales international Jonny Williams will start as an attacking midfielder in the no. 10 role.
Attack
Jonathan Leko could keep his place in the starting eleven as a striker once again. However, the striker on loan from West Brom is facing tough competition from Macauley Bonne who is pushing for a place in the first eleven. The other striker’s spot is more nailed on as Lyle Taylor has already scored three and assisted one goal in 3 games so far.
