Chelsea will entertain Sheffield United at Stamford Bridge on Saturday hoping to build on their victory over Norwich City from last weekend. The Pensioners come into this game after scoring three goals against the Canaries, so they will fancy their chances in front of the Blades goal. However, the visiting side has shown in the past that they can be resolute at the back as evidenced by their dogged performance versus Crystal Palace earlier this month.
Frank Lampard is expected to opt for a 4-2-3-1 formation and might name an unchanged side for this encounter at West London.
4-2-3-1 Chelsea Predicted Lineup To Face Sheffield United
Defence
Kepa Arrizabalaga will operate in goal for the Pensioners despite shipping in nine goals in his last four starts across all competitions. The centre-back pair of Andreas Christensen and Kurt Zouma will continue their defensive partnership at the centre of Chelsea’s backline while hoping to keep their first clean sheet of this campaign.
Cesar Azpilicueta will look to keep things tidy at the back while operating in the right-back position. Emerson Palmieri will try to make a positive impact on the other side down the left flank.
Marcos Alonso and Fikayo Tomori will have to settle for a place on Lampard’s bench and might come on during the encounter if required. Antonio Rudiger is unlikely to recover in time to face off against the Blades this weekend.
Midfield
Jorginho and Matteo Kovacic are expected to play as the anchormen in midfield as they look to dictate play from the centre of the park. The trio of Mason Mount, Ross Barkley and Christian Pulisic might operate ahead of them as part of the Chelsea attack.
Mount has been amongst the goals of late so we can expect another positive performance from him in front of the Chelsea supporters inside Stamford Bridge. Pedro is a doubt for this game, but he might be fit enough to start on the bench.
Attack
Tammy Abraham will lead the line for the Pensioners up top. The English striker was the hero for Chelsea last weekend when he scored two goals which helped his team earn their first win of this campaign. He will be desperate to replicate a similar kind of goal-scoring display versus the Blades on Saturday.
