We are hurtling towards the end of the transfer window for the English clubs, and we might see some action from Leeds United. Latest reports from Leeds Live as conveyed by Beren Cross confirms that Ryan Kent is the only outstanding option which the Whites will try to bring in this summer.
Why might Kent to Leeds United happen?
Recently Jurgen Klopp went on to claim that the English winger would not be allowed to leave on loan and prospective clubs will have to sign him permanently this summer. Reports did the round that the club could demand £10m for him. However, the latest reports from Sky Sports suggests that Liverpool are valuing the player around £7m.
The Whites have sanctioned a deal of £2.5m for Bailey Peacock-Farrell to Burnley. Therefore the club might only have to spend somewhere around £5m from their pocket to sign the winger. The dangers of Financial Fair Play is said to be looming large over Leeds United, but with the departure of Jack Clarke, Pontus Jansson, Aapo Halme and now Peacock-Farrell, they should be in a good financial position. Therefore even we also think that Victor Orta and the club might be able to pull out one more signing before the window shuts down.
Other scenarios for the Whites in the transfer window
Quite a few fans would probably want to see a new centre back coming in, but right now it seems that the club will look to solve those problems internally. Luke Ayling and Kalvin Phillips might have to fill in at the back from time to time when the likes of Ben White, Gaetano Berardi or Liam Cooper get injured or suspended.
The signing of Kent would make United one of the feared attacks at the Championship level. Leeds United were interested in signing him even before the deal of Jack Clarke was completed. So even though the youngster is staying at Elland Road this season, it seems like Bielsa wants to add another winger.
It would also be interesting to see whether the club will go out and get a replacement for Peacock-Farrell in this window. Kiko Casilla is likely to stay as the first choice option. The Spaniard is linked with a move to Sevilla, but he is likely going to remain at Elland Road.
Will Huffer and Kamil Miazek were expected to compete for places in the u-23 team, but one of them could end up being the second choice. If United end up going for Kent, then we might not see the club investing in a goalkeeper. However, they can consider getting someone on loan for the season.
