Leicester City will travel to the Stamford Bridge to take on Chelsea this weekend. The Foxes might have an advantage as they will have a full week to prepare. Rodgers’ men should be relatively fresh as Chelsea played a tough midweek game against Liverpool which was decided on penalties.
Brendan Rodgers joined the King Power Stadium around February, and he showed enough evidence that he could challenge for the top six with this team. Leicester opened their campaign with a goalless draw against Wolves and Rodgers would be keen to get his first win of the season soon.
Chelsea aren’t the same anymore, and they showed signs of vulnerability in their first game of the season against Manchester United so Leicester would probably back themselves to get something out of this game. However, the Blues showed significant signs of improvement in the Super Cup final game where they ran the Champions League holders close.
Leicester City Predicted Lineup Vs, Chelsea
Formation (4-2-3-1)
Defence
Kasper Schmeichel is a guaranteed starter in between the sticks. Harry Maguire’s departure is a big loss for Rodgers, but Turkish defender Çağlar Söyüncü showed impressive signs in the first game of the season. Jonny Evans is currently the mainstay at the back for the Foxes, and he should partner Söyüncü in defence. Ben Chilwell is an obvious choice for the left-back spot.
Ricardo Pereira was a consistent performer last season, and he is also a nailed-on starter in the right-back role. It is fair to say that Leicester have a very settled back four and there aren’t going to be many changes throughout the season.
Midfield
Wilfried Ndidi is an obvious choice to start in defensive midfield. He will look to keep things tight at the back. Ndidi is good with the ball at his feet, and he can launch attacks from the back as well. Hamza Choudhury should partner him up in central areas, and he will pretty much perform a similar role to Ndidi.
Youri Tielemans was Leicester’s big summer signing, and he will start in an advanced position in midfield. He will look to get in the box and affect play in the attacking half of the pitch. Ayoze Perez had an average debut against Wolves, and he would seek to prove his worth in this tie. He should start on the right flank. James Maddison is likely to keep his place on the left-wing spot.
Attack
United exposed Chelsea’s defence on the counter last weekend and Leicester have the best man in Jamie Vardy to exploit that weakness. The Englishman will start upfront.
