Swansea City will probably play their toughest game of the season as they will travel to Elland Road to take on Leeds United. Both the teams are on the same number of points, and Leeds lead the table only on goal difference at the moment.
The Whites are coming on the back of a narrow defeat to Stoke City on penalties in the Carabao Cup whereas Swansea went past Cambridge United with ease as they won 6-0. Both teams are still unbeaten in the league, and that should make this contest a fascinating watch. The Swans though have a terrible record at Elland Road as they have lost every time in their last ten visits in all competitions. However, Steve Cooper’s men would hope to change that this time around after an impressive start to the campaign.
Team news: Nathan Dyer and Aldo Kalulu both look set to miss out once again due to injuries.
Swansea City Predicted Lineup Vs Leeds United
Formation (4-2-3-1)
Defence
On-loan goalkeeper Freddie Woodman will start in goal for the Welsh outfit. He should be shielded by the centre back pairing of Mike van der Hoorn and 21-year-old Joe Rodon. The duo sat out the midweek tie against Cambridge, and they should be fresh to take on what would be their biggest challenge of the season so far.
Connor Roberts has seemingly done well at right-back, and he should keep his place there. Jake Bidwell is expected to start at left-back, but Kyle Naughton is also knocking on the door to earn a place there. However, the latter played in the League Cup, so we expect Bidwell to keep his place in the left side of the defence.
Midfield
Tom Carroll made his comeback from injury against Cambridge United, but Cooper is unlikely to start him again against the Whites. Matt Grimes is expected to begin in the base of midfield alongside Jay Fulton. The duo will have a tough job of keeping the dynamic United attackers quiet at Elland Road.
Bersant Celina is expected to start in the attacking midfield role. Yan Dhanda is likely to get the nod on the left flank. Andre Ayew has been heavily linked with a move away so we aren’t sure whether he would be in the right mindset to start in this tie. Cooper might go in with Wayne Routledge on the right in this tie given Ayew’s uncertain future.
Attack
Borja Baston is currently the top scorer in the Championship with five goals, and he should be starting even though his future at the club is also in doubt.
