Real Madrid have spent the big bucks this summer with the arrivals of Eden Hazard, Ferland Mendy, Eder Militao, Rodrygo, and Luka Jovic. Zinedine Zidane definitely has one of the best squads across Europe at his disposal.
However, that’s not the end to the Fiesta. Los Blancos have also loaned out a handful of players who would be playing a crucial and fundamental role at the club in the coming years. With the likes of Sergio Ramos, Marcelo, Karim Benzema, and Luka Modric not having age on their side, it’s only a matter of time before the next generation of players step up and fill in the void and legacy which these iconic Real Madrid players would leave behind.
The likes of Andriy Lunin, Achraf Hakimi, Dani Ceballos, Sergi Reguilon, Jesus Vallejo and Borja Mayoral are all tipped to be the next Real Madrid stars and are currently proving their mettle at other clubs on loan spells.
The 4th Official has a look at two of these future prospects who would ultimately take on the responsibility of pleasing the ever-demanding Bernabeu audience in the years to come.
Real Madrid Loan Watch
Dani Ceballos
Andalusia born and bought up Dani Ceballos is a perfect ‘modern-day’ midfielder in the making. Ceballos started at Sevilla’s youth system but was released due to the diagnosis of chronic bronchitis. He paved his way into the Real Betis setup and historically made his debut straight for Betis’ main team.
His performances at the 2017 UEFA European Under 21 Championship attracted the attention of Real Madrid. Ceballos was named the player of the tournament and helped his side finish second. Real Madrid came calling in the summer of 2017 and announced his signing on a six-year deal.
Ceballos then spent two seasons with the Los Blancos winning the UEFA Champions League title once amongst other trophies. This summer he was loaned out to Arsenal and has already shown his impact on the Premier League with engaging performances.
It is highly unlikely that Real Madrid would allow the 23-year-old midfielder to spend more than a season on loan following the completion of his Arsenal agreement.
Sergio Reguilon
Sergi Reguilon was one of Real Madrid’s brightest sparks last season in a season which was better forgotten than remembered. The 23-year-old has been loaned out for twelve months to fellow La Liga side, Sevilla.
Reguilon was an absolute gem to watch last season and even managed to take over the left-back position from the iconic Marcelo under the leadership of Santiago Solari. Reguilon reminded the Bernabeu audience of the Roberto Carlos days. Good old-school defending partnered with the lethal attacking instincts. Reguilon was extremely well-positioned while attacking and did not forget about his defensive duties either.
The arrival of Ferland Mendy from Lyon might have complicated things for the young Spaniard with more competition to fend off.
