Tottenham Hotspur will entertain Aston Villa at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday hoping to kick off their domestic campaign with a victory. Spurs have recruited well in the summer transfer window and will go into this game full of confidence of securing maximum points in front of their home supporters.
However, the Villans won’t be any pushovers as they have heavily invested in their squad this summer. So they could prove to be a tricky proposition for the North London outfit tomorrow. Mauricio Pochettino is expected to opt for a 4-4-2 formation (diamond) and might hand Tanguy Ndombele his competitive debut for Spurs this weekend.
4-4-2 (Diamond) Tottenham Hotspur Predicted Lineup To Face Aston Villa
Defence
Hugo Lloris will start in goal for Spurs as he hopes to hit the ground running by helping his team keep a clean sheet at the back against the Villans this weekend. The centre-half duo of Jan Vertonghen and Toby Alderweireld will lineup just ahead of the French keeper at the heart of the Tottenham backline.
Danny Rose will look to use his pace to wreak havoc in the opposition half while Kyle Walker-Peters looks to put in an impressive display at right-back. Both Serge Aurier and Ben Davies are slight doubts for this game and will be in a race against time to be fit for this weekend’s clash at North London.
Midfield
Tanguy Ndombele will play as the holding midfielder while Harry Winks and Mousa Sissoko operates just ahead of him at the centre of the park. Christian Eriksen will play in an advanced role despite being linked with a move away from Tottenham Hotspur this summer. The Denmark international will have the license to express himself in the opposition half as he looks to orchestrate some decent chances for Lucas Moura and Harry Kane up top.
Dele Alli is unlikely to recover in time for this match, but Eric Dier and Victor Wanyama might be available for selection this weekend. However, they would have to settle for a place on the Spurs bench.
Attack
Harry Kane and Lucas Moura will try to link up together and cause a lot of headaches for the Villa defenders up top. Heung-min Son is still out of action, so either Kane or Moura has to step up and make a difference against the Villans tomorrow evening.
