Arsenal will face off against Newcastle United at St. James’ Park hoping to get a win on the opening weekend of the new Premier League campaign. The Gunners come into this clash at the back of a 2-1 loss against Barcelona in pre-season. Unai Emery made a couple of important deadline day acquisitions which would boost his chances of success in the 2019-20 season.
However, the Magpies won’t be any pushovers at they would try to make a good start under Steve Bruce’s tutelage at St. James’ Park. Unai Emery will opt for a 4-3-3 formation as he won’t have a whole host of first-teamers available in his match-day squad.
David Luiz is expected to make his Arsenal debut at Tyneside this weekend.
4-3-3 Arsenal Predicted Lineup To Face Newcastle United
Defence
Bernd Leno will start in goal for the Gunners hoping to keep a clean sheet against the Magpies on Sunday afternoon. The German goalie will be protected by the centre-half pairing of Sokratis Papastathopoulos and David Luiz as the duo looks to impress at the heart of Emery’s backline. Ainsley Maitland-Niles is expected to start at the right-back position while Nacho Monreal operates on the other side as the left-back.
The North London outfit needs to make a strong start, so keeping a shut-out this weekend could be vital in laying down the groundwork for the whole campaign. Both Kieran Tierney and Hector Bellerin won’t be available for this clash against Steve Bruce’s men.
Midfield
Emery might opt for a midfield three of Granit Xhaka, Joe Willock and Dani Ceballos for this match against Newcastle on Sunday. Both Mohamed Elneny and Lucas Torreira needs more game time under their belt, so they are not expected to be involved from the start this weekend.
Hence, it would be up to Xhaka to lead the Arsenal midfield and establish his team’s dominance at the centre of the park.
Attack
The Gunners frontline would be comprised of Reiss Nelson, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Henrikh Mkhitaryan. The talented trio will look to do most of the damage tomorrow as they try to make a winning start to this season.
Nicolas Pepe and Mesut Ozil have both been ruled out of this encounter.
