According to a recent report by talkSPORT, Liverpool will not allow their English centre-forward Bobby Duncan to make a switch away from Anfield this summer. The same source has also claimed that the Reds youngster is frustrated with the lack of game time under Jurgen Klopp’s tutelage this season.
Duncan, who is the cousin of Rangers manager and Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard, has decided to remove all of his social media posts related to the Merseyside club (via talkSPORT). He did not take part in Liverpool Under-23 team’s 4-2 win over Southampton on Monday which has put his future at Anfield in even more doubt.
Duncan’s Frustrations At Liverpool This Season
The Whiston born talent was in impressive form for the Reds during pre-season and also managed to score against Tranmere Rovers. However, he has not made a senior appearance for Klopp’s team so far in this campaign. Hence, it is no wonder that he wants to seal a move away from Merseyside in search of regular playing time.
Duncan has fallen behind the pecking order at Anfield as the likes of Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino, Divock Origi and Rhian Brewster are all being preferred ahead of him.
What Are The English Whizkid’s Greatest Strengths?
Duncan is a lethal finisher in the final third which makes such a potent threat in front of the opposition goal. The English teen sensation thrives under the spotlight and can score goals consistently when he is playing with confidence on the field. He managed to register 23 goals and create eight assists in 26 matches for the Liverpool Under-18 team last season.
Not Allowing Duncan To Leave: Wise Move By Klopp?
The Liverpool starlet has the potential to be a world-class talent, which explains why Klopp does not want to part ways with him this summer. The Reds will be competing in five different competitions this season so they would need to have a strong squad capable of challenging on all fronts.
Therefore, retaining Duncan for this 2019-20 campaign could be vital if the Merseyside club are to do well in the domestic cup competitions. All in all, it could turn out to be a clever move by Klopp if he can find a way to keep Duncan at Anfield beyond this summer.
