According to Sky Sports (via the Liverpool Echo), Liverpool have rejected a loan offer from FC Nordsjælland for their English striker Bobby Duncan this summer. The Daily Mail had earlier claimed that the Danish outfit were willing to offer the Reds striker regular first-team opportunities to try and lure him to the Right to Dream Park for the 2019-20 campaign.
It seems like Jurgen Klopp has made a strong statement with regards to Duncan’s involvement at Anfield this season. The German boss might be inclined towards giving him some first-team chances at Merseyside in the domestic competitions. Duncan impressed a lot of people with his performances for the Reds during pre-season. The 18-year-old is yet to make his competitive debut for Liverpool but is an integral member of the club’s Under-23 side.
The Risk Of Keeping Duncan At Anfield For The 2019-20 Campaign
Duncan needs to improve and showcase his worth in training if he wants to earn a first-team appearance under Klopp’s tutelage. The former Man City youth player has featured in two matches for the Liverpool U-23 team but is yet to find the back of the net this season.
At 18, the English rising star still has plenty of time to prove his value at the highest level. He needs to be patient and continue developing his game under Klopp’s expert stewardship. Duncan has incredible potential and could become a future star in English football. Thus, Liverpool’s stance to not loan him for the new campaign could hamper the progress of the young striker if he fails to earn a place in Klopp’s senior team this term.
What Does The English Whizkid Offer On The Field?
Duncan can be an unforgiving finisher inside the opposition penalty box. The English wonderkid is not afraid of the limelight and can consistently score or create goals for his team as evidenced by his record of 23 goals and eight assists in 26 matches for the Liverpool Under-18s.
The Whiston-born has all the skillset required to be a future starter at Anfield as long as he can continue improving with each season. At this moment, he is not good enough to feature for Klopp’s side in the Premier League.
Did Klopp Make The Right Call By Declining Duncan’s Loan Offer From FC Nordsjælland?
However, Duncan could secure some valuable game time in the domestic cup competitions as Klopp has often shown in the past that he is willing to give his youngsters a chance in the early rounds of the FA Cup and the League Cup. All in all, not letting Duncan leave could be a wise call by Klopp as the English starlet could help his team compete on all fronts this season.
