Liverpool will play hosts to Arsenal at Anfield on Saturday evening on the back of an unconvincing 2-1 win away at Southampton last weekend. The Premier League table-toppers have made an excellent start to his campaign so Jurgen Klopp will hope that his side can continue their remarkable 11-game winning streak in the English top-flight.
However, Unai Emery’s men could prove to be a tough test for the Reds as they come into this game with a 100% winning record in the league thus far. Klopp will probably stick with his favoured 4-3-3 formation and could bring both Jordan Henderson and Fabinho back to his starting XI for this crucial home match against the North London outfit.
4-3-3 Liverpool Predicted Lineup To Face Arsenal
Defence
Alisson Becker will be sidelined for several weeks after he sustained a calf injury against Norwich City earlier this month. Adrian will retain his place in between the sticks despite making a howler against Southampton last weekend.
Joel Matip and Virgil Van Dijk will offer adequate protection for the Spanish goalie as they lineup at the heart of Klopp’s backline. Both Liverpool defenders will hope to keep a clean sheet at the back, but it won’t be easy as they are expected to be up against the dangerous Arsenal trio of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Alexandre Lacazette and Nicolas Pepe.
Trent Alexander-Arnold will assume the duties of a right-back as he looks to whip in some inviting crosses from the right-wing. Andrew Robertson is expected to work his socks off and be a decent outlet for the Reds down the left flank.
Midfield
Klopp might opt for a midfield three of Jordan Henderson, Fabinho and Georginio Wijnaldum so that Liverpool have a strong platform to dominate possession against the Gunners at the middle of the park. Both Henderson and Fabinho were rested against the Saints last Saturday, so this match against Arsenal could be an ideal opportunity for them to come back stronger than ever before the international break next month.
James Milner, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Adam Lallana will have to settle for a place on the bench. They might get an opportunity to make an impact if Klopp calls upon their services. However, Naby Keita will once again be out of action as he sustained an injury during training before Liverpool’s UEFA Super Cup victory over Chelsea earlier this month.
Attack
The lethal front three of Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah will be unleashed against the Gunners up top. All three players have already got their names on the scoresheet this season. Hence, their confidence would be sky-high heading into this home encounter versus Unai Emery’s side.
Divock Origi and Rhian Brewster are likely to be named on Klopp’s bench and might get a chance to feature in this contest if required.
