Rangers will likely face their biggest test of the new season as they will take on Legia Warsaw in the Europa League playoff tie. They will travel to Poland for the first leg. Many are expecting this to be a tight affair, but Rangers have been turning heads with their performances as they went past FC Midtjylland with ease as they won 7-3 on aggregate.
One can expect a great game as Warsaw managed to keep clean sheets in all their three previous Europa League home ties whereas Rangers have looked like a free-scoring side. Rangers have found the back of the net 19 times in the qualifiers so far so something will have to give in this all-important clash. Gerrard’s men are on a five-game winning streak, and they would look to come up with another top performance.
Team News: Filip Helander and Greg Docherty aren’t part of the Europa League squad, and Gerrard has decided to go in with Andy King and Brandon Barker in his team. Injury wise, there aren’t too many concerns for the English manager.
4-3-3 Rangers Predicted Lineup Vs Legia Warsaw
Formation (4-3-3)
Defence
Allan McGregor is going to start in between the sticks for the Gers. Gerrard is likely to stick with the pairing of Nikola Katic and Connor Goldson at the back. It seems like the manager has zeroed in on his best defensive partnership, but Helander will probably make a claim at some point in the future.
James Tavernier is a nailed-on starter from the right flank. Jon Flanagan has emerged as the first-choice left-back in the tough games so far, and we expect Gerrard to continue with the former Liverpool defender in that position.
Midfield
Steven Davis is likely to start in the deepest role in midfield. It’s clear that Gerrard prefers to have one experienced candidate in midfield and Davis has done a great job so far in controlling the tempo of the game.
Further forward, Joe Aribo has been terrific, and he should be a nailed-on starter. So Ryan Jack and Glen Kamara will have to miss out.
Attack
Jordan Jones has impressed with his direct style of play, and he is expected to start on the left. Gerrard has often gone in with Scott Arfield on the right. The Canadian often drifts inside and almost plays as an attacking midfielder instead of an outright winger. Tavernier usually provides the width on the right.
Jermain Defoe has done well, but we expect Gerrard to go in with Alfredo Morelos up front.
