Barcelona have gotten their La Liga season up and running with a 5-2 rout of Real Betis at the Camp Nou yesterday night. Ernesto Valverde’s men were rampant against the Andalusian side and thoroughly deserved the victory.
Betis’ summer recruit, Nabil Fekir opened the scoring in the 15th minute of the game. Antoine Griemann then managed to level things up just around the end of the first half. The Frenchman then scored another goal just at the beginning of the second half. Following which Barcelona scored three goals with Perez, Alba, and Vidal.
However, Betis managed to score for the second time with Garcia in the 79th minute, but it was too little, too late. Barcelona have now moved to the 7th spot in the points table with 3 points. There are signs of concern for Real Betis who have failed to win a single game out of the first two matches.
Marc Andre Ter Stegen – 5/10
The German could barely do anything about the two goals he conceded and was largely untested.
Nelson Semedo – 7/10
Was an imminent threat in the evening with his attacking endeavours.
Gerard Pique – 5/10
Picked up a yellow card and it looks as if age is catching up with him finally. The 32-year-old looked a yard or two slower to the Betis attackers.
Clement Lenglet – 8/10
Lenglet was extremely calm and composed, like always.
Jordi Alba – 7/10
Joined the scoring party when he scored Barcelona’s fourth goal. Was constantly spotted undertaking attacking duties during the game.
Sergi Roberto – 6/10
Seemed comfortable in the midfield role yesterday evening.
Sergio Busquets – 7/10
Busquets has been one of Barcelona’s most vital players over the years, and today was no different. He was subbed off in the 73rd minute.
de Jong – 6/10
He was fundamental in keeping things ticking in the centre of the park but did not offer the spark as such.
Carles Perez – 6/10
The youngster will need to work on his final product. Managed to get on the scoresheet nevertheless.
Antoine Griezmann – 9/10
Scored a brace on his competitive home debut. A performance that will leave a significant impact on the Camp Nou faithful.
Rafinha – 7/10
A constant threat for the side from Seville down the left-hand side.
