Manchester City travelled to the Vitality Stadium to face off against Bournemouth earlier today looking to secure another win on the road. The Citizens were dominant from the get-go and made the breakthrough in the 15th minute courtesy of Sergio Aguero’s finish from close range. Raheem Sterling doubled the visiting team’s lead in the 43rd minute. However, the Cherries came up with a stunning response via Harry Wilson’s world-class freekick just before the half-time whistle.
The second half was more of the same with Pep Guardiola’s men outplaying their opposition. Aguero struck again in the 64th minute to kill the game off. The contest finished with Man City running away with a comfortable 3-1 victory on the day.
Let’s take a look at how each Man City player performed during the encounter against the Cherries.
GK: Ederson – 6.5/10
The Brazilian keeper made a mistake in the first half when he took out Callum Wilson and got cautioned for his actions. However, he came back stronger than ever and made a few brilliant saves to limit Bournemouth to just one goal.
RB: Kyle Walker – 6/10
The English full-back received a silly yellow card for being too aggressive with his tackles in the first half. However, he tried to link up with others going forward and was a decent outlet down the right flank.
CB: Nicolas Otamendi – 6.5/10
The Argentine centre-back had a few nervy moments in the first half but put in a dominant defensive display in the second.
CB: Aymeric Laporte – 7/10
The Man City defensive ace kept things solid at the back and had a comfortable game at the heart of Guardiola’s backline.
LB: Oleksandr Zinchenko – 7/10
He had a few problems dealing with Josh King’s pace early on but did enough to keep things tight in defence. Zinchenko also managed to whip in some dangerous crosses from the wide areas.
CM: Kevin De Bruyne – 6/10
The Belgian international had an average game, but he still managed to grab an assist in the game.
CM: Ilkay Gundogan – 5/10
He struggled to distribute the ball accurately from midfield and was substituted close to the hour mark.
CM: David Silva – 8.5/10
The Spaniard pulled strings from midfield and has two assists to show for his efforts. Silva proved that age is just a number for him after he put in a classy performance in the Bournemouth half today.
RM: Bernardo Silva – 6/10
The Portuguese talent had another mediocre game for Man City. He needs to find his old form or else risk losing his first-team place to Mahrez.
ST: Sergio Aguero – 8/10
The Argentine striker took up some dangerous positions inside the Cherries penalty box. He scored a brace which was enough to ensure that the visitors came away with maximum points from the Vitality Stadium this weekend.
LM: Raheem Sterling – 7/10
The English speedster had a quiet game but still managed to find the back of the net to take his tally for the season to five goals.
Substitutes:
CM: Rodri – 7/10
He did his job in midfield and made sure that the Citizens kept a clean sheet in the second half.
RM: Riyad Mahrez – 6/10
The Algerian wide player struggled to create anything meaningful going forward.
RB: Joao Cancelo – N/A
He came on to run the clock down for the Mancunian outfit.
