Rangers haven’t set a foot wrong in their new season so far, and they recently made it to the Europa League. Even off the pitch, the club has done well in terms of signing players as they have strengthened and bolstered their squad in almost all the areas.
However, Rangers might have to buckle up for a late swoop from Galatasaray for their star striker Alfredo Morelos. Reports from Turkish media outlet Aksam say that the Turkish heavyweights are planning a late swoop for the Colombian forward. The 23-year-old has once again emerged as a vital player for Rangers, and he has started the season brilliantly scoring some crucial goals so far.
Gerrard on why he will not sanction a late deal
Rangers have done an excellent job in keeping hold of him, but the next couple of days could be tricky for them in the transfer window. However, we think that there is no way Gerrard would look to sanction a late move for his star forward. The English manager had earlier said in July, ”If someone wants to spend a lot of money on a centre-forward they’ll have to come early because it won’t happen late. If he did end up going, he’d be impossible to replace with days or weeks to go in the window. We don’t want him to go, but every player has a price.”
With just a few days remaining in the transfer window, we don’t see the Gers sanctioning a deal for the striker. Moreover, Rangers have got only two outright strikers at the moment in Jermain Defoe and Morelos, so a late approach from Galatasaray is likely going to get a cold shoulder from the Glaswegian giants.
Why Might Rangers get the best price for Morelos after this season?
Rangers might not have got a reasonable bid for Morelos yet as the striker had a disciplinary and temperamental issue last season. The Colombian was given five red cards last term and the way he ended his campaign wouldn’t have given prospective clubs too much confidence. However, the South American forward is appearing a lot calmer this season and has looked to avoid unnecessary altercations with the referees and the opponents.
A good goal scoring season backed with no significant disciplinary issue will push the forward’s price higher, and then Rangers can get the actual price for Morelos just based on his pure abilities. As things stand, we firmly believe that Rangers will not look to do business with Galatasaray.
The Turkish heavyweights though have the pull of Champions League football so they cannot be underestimated. But the fact that we have just a few hours remaining in the transfer window leads us to believe that Rangers will surely not sell their best player.
