According to a recent report by the Sun, Arsenal teenage winger Sam Greenwood is on the radar of AC Milan and Juventus. The same source has also revealed that both Serie A clubs sent scouts to catch the youngster in action at the Under-17 European Championships earlier this summer.
Sam Greenwood’s Rapid Rise In English Football
The English wide player managed to score three goals in three matches for the England U-17 side which has raised his stock in European football. Greenwood began his career playing for Sunderland before he joined the Gunners’ youth ranks last summer.
The 17-year-old has made an electric start to this campaign after finding the back of the net once in two appearances in the U-18 Premier League. He also has a prolific goal-scoring record for the Three Lions U-17 team. Greenwood has scored 12 goals in 14 matches for them so far.
If he can continue being consistent in front of the opposition goal, then the English starlet is destined to become a future star in English football. It seems like Greenwood enjoys playing football in North London, so there is no need for him to opt for a change of scenery when things are falling in place in terms of his development process.
Will The English Teenager Benefit From A Move To The Serie A?
Greenwood has already proven his worth at the Under-17 level. He is a regular goal-scorer for both his club and country, so it is no wonder that two of the biggest clubs in Italian football are interested in recruiting him this summer.
The English wing wizard might be enticed to make a switch to a foreign country and follow in the footsteps of other English players like Jadon Sancho and Reiss Nelson. However, it would be a massive gamble as things are going so well for him at Arsenal.
Should Arsenal Consider Selling Greenwood?
The Gunners should not even consider entertaining any offers for Greenwood as he has the potential to secure a regular starting berth at the Emirates Stadium in the coming years. Unai Emery would be better off keeping him happy at North London and should also help him develop into a world-class winger someday.
