Tottenham Hotspur will travel to the Emirates Stadium to clash heads with their North London rivals Arsenal on Sunday. Both teams will be looking to bounce back from a loss with Spurs being beaten by Newcastle United with a 1-0 scoreline last weekend. On the other hand, Arsenal were ripped apart by a rampant Liverpool team that managed to secure a 3-1 win at Anfield last Saturday.
Mauricio Pochettino is expected to opt for a 4-2-3-1 formation and match up with Arsenal’s 4-2-3-1 set-up stride for stride. This match has the makings of an entertaining contest with both sides looking to go all out in search of the three points. Here are three changes that the Tottenham boss should consider implementing to ensure a positive result versus the Gunners this weekend.
Play Christian Eriksen From The Start Of The North London Derby
Eriksen has been heavily linked with a move away from North London this summer. However, he is still a Spurs player so Pochettino should think about starting him as he has put in some excellent cameos off the bench so far this season. The Danish playmaker is the most creative midfielder in Pochettino’s squad. Thus, he will add to another dimension to Tottenham’s midfield which could help them beat the Gunners in the Premier League this weekend.
Replace Lucas Moura With Dele Alli
Moura has looked like a player out of form when he has started for Spurs in recent weeks. The Brazilian speedster has been far more dangerous when he has come off the bench as evidenced by his performance against Manchester City earlier this month.

The former Paris Saint-Germain managed to grab the all-important equaliser at the Etihad Stadium on August 17th which helped Tottenham secure an unlikely point against the champions of England. Therefore, it makes sense for Pochettino to use Moura as an impact substitute once again rather than handing him another start in the North London derby.
Go With An All English Midfield Comprised Of Eric Dier And Harry Winks
With Tanguy Ndombele out of action and Kyle Walker-Peters a significant doubt for this game, Pochettino will have a real dilemma on his hands as he would have to decide whether to play Moussa Sissoko as a right-back or in central midfield.
Thus, the Argentine manager should consider playing an all-English midfield of Eric Dier and Harry Winks while deploying Sissoko as a right wing-back. The Frenchman will be able to use his pace effectively out on the flanks. Winks and Dier can enjoy operating in midfield as they have developed a keen understanding after playing together on multiple occasions last season.
