According to a recent report by Mundo Deportivo (via Sport Witness), Tottenham Hotspur target Dani Olmo is keen on a return to Spain following a five-year spell away from his homeland. The same source has also claimed that Spurs will face stiff competition from Atletico Madrid in pursuit of the Spanish Under-21 international during this summer transfer window.
The Impressive Form Of Dani Olmo At Dinamo Kiev
The Spanish prospect began his playing career at Barcelona’s world-renowned La Masia Academy before he decided to seal a move to Dinamo Zagreb in the summer of 2014. After completing his switch to the Stadion Maksimir, the 21-year-old battled hard to break out as a first-team starter for the Croatian outfit back in 2015.
Olmo enjoyed a magnificent season at Zagreb after he put in a series of impressive displays for his side in the previous campaign. The Terrassa born sensation made 44 appearances for Zagreb in the last term, finding the back of the net on 12 occasions while providing nine assists in multiple competitions.
The Spaniard is a versatile midfielder who can be an integral asset for any of his potential suitors. Olmo has often been deployed in the number 10 position where he has the freedom to get forward. However, he can also make a positive contribution when asked to operate as a winger on either flank. The ex-Barca wonderkid is currently an important member of the Spanish Under-21 team, having registered three goals in 10 appearances for them so far.
What Will The Spanish Whizkid Bring To North London?
The Spanish starlet is not afraid to put in a consistent run of performances when his team needs him to step up the most. Olmo has enough pace to trouble his marker in the opposition half and can also make some clever runs from midfield. The talented youngster has added goals and assists to his game, which means that he is getting better with each season.
Olmo Keen On A Return To Spain: Huge Blow For Pochettino?
Olmo’s desire to seal a return to Spain will be a massive blow for Spurs as Mauricio Pochettino is in dire need of bringing in a quality replacement for Christian Eriksen who has been linked with a move away from North London this summer. The Spaniard would have been an ideal alternative to the Danish playmaker, so missing out on him will be a bitter pill to swallow for Daniel Levy and company.
However, there are still a few weeks remaining in this transfer window so the North London giants should have enough time to find a quality attacking midfielder before the start of the new campaign.
