According to a recent report by the Sun, Tottenham Hotspur are in the driver’s seat to secure the services of Real Madrid midfielder Dani Ceballos on a season-long loan deal this summer. The same source has also mentioned that the former Real Betis talent does not intend to make his switch permanent and still hopes to have a successful career at the Spanish capital.
AS has also claimed that Spurs will face competition from Arsenal and AC Milan in pursuit of the Sevilla-born prospect. However, the player does not intend to play for a club not participating in the UEFA Champions League which has given Mauricio Pochettino’s side a massive advantage in the chase to sign Ceballos in this off-season.
Ceballos’ Frustrations In The Spanish Top-Flight Last Season
The Spaniard had to endure a difficult campaign last season when he struggled to find consistency on the field. The La Liga sensation played 34 matches for the Galacticos in the previous campaign, registering three goals while creating two assists across all competitions.
The former Real Betis youngster has also represented Spain in six international matches and has scored one goal for them in the process. Ceballos needs to concentrate on improving his overall game if he wants to prove his worth at the highest level. At 22, he still has some time to develop into a class act in midfield and become one of the household names in European football.
What Are The Spanish Prospect’s Strengths?
Ceballos can distribute the ball accurately from midfield and is not afraid to make a killer pass in the final third. He can also complete lung-bursting dribbles with the ball from midfield to either set up a goal-scoring chance for himself or create openings for others around him. The Spaniard prefers to assume the role of a box to box midfielder, but he is equally effective when asked to play in the number 10 position or on the left flank if needed.
Recruiting Ceballos On Loan: Good Move For Pochettino?
The addition of Ceballos, even if it is on a season-long loan deal, will bolster Pochettino’s midfield options significantly at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. He could also be an ideal replacement for Christian Eriksen if the Dane leaves the North Londoners before the start of the new season.
Thus, it could be a massive coup for Pochettino if he can find a way to beat his competition and acquire the Spaniard’s services for the upcoming campaign.
