According to a recent report by Football.london, Tottenham Hotspur have begun discussions with Juventus over a potential switch for their Argentine forward Paulo Dybala in this off-season. The same source has mentioned that Spurs are prepared to break their transfer record to secure the services of the £80m-rated Serie A talent.
The North London outfit are in dire need of finding a suitable replacement for Vincent Janssen who joined C.F. Monterrey earlier this month (via BBC). Dybala could be a brilliant alternative for the departed Dutch forward and will fit the bill perfectly at Spurs. If given the opportunity to showcase his skills at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, the Juve star has the potential to form a formidable striking partnership with Harry Kane.
Dybala’s Lacklustre Campaign In The Italian Top-Flight
The Argentine prospect had an underwhelming season for the Italian champions as he struggled to hit top form at the Allianz Stadium. Dybala made a total of 42 appearances for the Turin giants last season, scoring ten goals while providing five assists on all fronts. The 25-year-old has also earned 23 international caps for Argentina and has registered one goal for his nation thus far.
Dybala had struggled to find productivity with his performances on the field in the previous campaign. The Juve star had to share the ball more often to accomodate Cristiano Ronaldo, who completed a switch to Juventus from Real Madrid last summer. However, the Argentina international can still be a prolific presence inside the opposition penalty box when he is playing with confidence on the pitch.
What Will The South American Talent Add To Pochettino’s Side?
Dybala is highly skilful with the ball at his feet and can beat his marker using his speed and guile in the opposition half. The Serie A dazzler is not afraid to make a few lung-bursting runs in the final third so that he can create openings for others around him. However, the Juve talent needs to be more unforgiving inside the opposition penalty box if he wants to rekindle his old form in the coming years.
Splashing The Cash On Dybala: Good Move For Pochettino?
The addition of a striker of Dybala’s ilk will undeniably add a lot of quality to Mauricio Pochettino’s frontline at the North London club. He could be a brilliant strike partner for Kane and will also provide more competition for the likes of Lucas Moura, Dele Alli and Heung-min Son in the upcoming campaign.
Overall, it seems like Spurs should break their bank to bring the Argentine star to North London as he will be an excellent fit for them in the years to come.
