According to a recent report by the Daily Mirror, Tottenham Hotspur are keeping tabs on the development of CSKA Moscow forward Fedor Chalov. The same source has also mentioned that Spurs will face stiff competition from Liverpool, Arsenal, Manchester City and Manchester United in pursuit of the Russian goal-getter.
Chalov’s Rapid Rise In The Top Tier Of Russian Football
The 21-year-old striker enjoyed a fantastic season at Moscow after he put in a series of goal-scoring displays under Viktor Goncharenko’s tutelage in the previous campaign. His incredible match-winning contributions helped his club earn a fourth-place finish in the Russian Premier League table.
Chalov scored 17 goals and grabbed seven assists in 37 matches for CSKA Moscow across all competitions in the last term. He is an exceptional young talent who has lit up the Russian top-flight with some dazzling performances thus far.
However, the Moskau-born talent has made a slow start to this domestic campaign after he failed to open his goal-scoring account against KS Samara on Sunday. The youngster had to endure a painful 2-0 loss away at Samara in the opening game of this season. On the positive side, he has already got 90 minutes under his belt, which will be helpful for his long-term development as a forward.
What Will The Russian Striker Bring To North London?
Chalov knows what it takes to taste success at the highest level having lifted the Russian Super Cup during his time at Moscow. However, he is still quite inexperienced and would need time to improve his game before he can feature at an elite level.
The addition of a player of Chalov’s remarkable potential will undoubtedly bolster Pochettino’s attacking options at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. The Russian striker is moderately paced and can make some dangerous runs behind the opposition backline. He is also a lethal finisher in the final third as evidenced by his impressive tally of 17 goals from last season which has raised his stock in European football.
Hence, Spurs should do everything they can to fend off competition from some of their Premier League rivals and orchestrate a move to bring Chalov to North London before the start of the new campaign. He could be the perfect fit to provide cover to Harry Kane, as the youngster will hopefully not be expecting to play every game. With the experience of playing in Cup games and occasional Premier League matches, he could mature sooner than expected.
